MAPUSA: A scrap yard operated by one Narayan Rathore caught fire opposite a petrol pump at Arambol on Thursday.
According to Pernem fire station, the control room received a call at 3.30 pm informing them about the fire at the scrap yard.
A team of Pernem fire station immediately rushed to site and began the fire fighting operation which lasted for nearly four hours.
The owner claimed to have suffered loss of Rs 40,000 while the fire personnel managed to save goods worth nearly Rs 2 lakh.
