MARGAO: Tension rent the air at the Sunni Al Masjid, Rumdamol, Davorlim, after Friday prayers around noon following a scuffle between two groups.
Maina-Curtorim police said four youth from one group were wearing black T-shirts. They informed that one Mohammad Anif suffered simple injuries on his face during the scuffle.
The men-in-khaki had to rush to the spot after being intimated about the incident to avert any major law and order situation. Though both groups approached Maina-Curtorim police and are reported to have lodged complaints and cross complaints, they later requested the police not to initiate action, saying the two groups have sorted out the matter.
When PI Gurudas Kadam was contacted he informed that preventive action will be initiated to stop similar incidents from occurring again in the locality.
According to Umrankhan Phattan, he along with Kasim, Jaffar and Rihaz all from Rumdamol had attended Friday prayers at the Masjid wearing black T-shirt with words “One Allah. One Kiman. One Ummah” on the back of the T-shirt.
Phattan speaking to media said that he and his friends had done nothing wrong to be targeted. He, however, expressed his displeasure over some elements trying to put a divide among the Muslim brethren in Rumdamol.
