MARGAO, MAY 31
Sub-divisional Magistrate, Margao Agnelo Fernandes has reserved orders to 8.30 am on Tuesday after women’s rights activist Tara Kerkar filed an application this evening seeking a fresh post mortem examination on the body of deceased Nadia Torrado.
After hearing the family members of the deceased, including her husband and brothers, besides investigating Officer, PI Raju Raut Desai, late Monday evening, the SDM has said he would pronounce his order on Tuesday morning.
During the hearing, the family members submitted before the SDM that they do not suspect any foul play in the death of the Nadia and have sought permission to perform the last rites.
Questions were raised at the hearing whether Kerkar can seek a fresh post mortem as she is not a member of the deceased family.
PI Raju Raut Dessai, who appeared before the SDM during the hearing, submitted a copy of the post mortem examination report conducted by Dr Bhaskar at the Chennai hospital. The autopsy report reportedly attributed the death of the woman to multiple organ failure due to poisoning.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased Nadia was brought from Chennai to Goa this evening. After its arrival at the airport, the body was taken to her residence at Loutolim, the police said.
