MARGAO: The death of 24-year-old Lata, a resident of Rawanfond but originally from Karnataka, has prompted the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Maina-Curtorim police, upon learning of her death within seven years of marriage, promptly informed the SDM, who will conduct an inquest panchanama under Section 176 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
While Lata’s body has been shifted to the South Goa District Hospital in Margao for post-mortem examination, police have disclosed that investigations will proceed cautiously, ensuring all facts are verified before proceeding with the autopsy.
According to the police, Lata purpotedly took her own life in the rented premises she shared with her husband in Rawanfond. Her husband, who reportedly works for a company, was detained by the police last night. Police said he was crying bitterly through the questioning.
Sources revealed the presence of marks on her neck, raising suspicions about the nature of her death.
