Sea turtle rescued at Sernabatim

MARGAO: Dr Ketan Bhatikar and his friends rescued a sea turtle that got washed ashore at Sernabatim beach.

The turtle got tangled in nets, was rescued and later released into the waters.

One of the five Olive Ridley turtles, rescued earlier by the fishermen at Benaulim beach, was taken to the Government Veterinary Hospital at Sonsoddo for treatment. The net had cut through the skin of the right fore flipper.

The cut was stitched in a surgery by Dr Natasha Coutinho and the turtle was handed over to the forest officials for the post operation management and care.
