Margao: Goa Forward Party (GFP) Chief Vijai Sardesai has taken potshots at the government for having finally woken up from its slumber to attend to the issue of stranded Goan seafarers.
Vijai also credited Gina Pereira for the protest and raising the issue. He added that the step of the government is not worthy of congratulating them for it, as it is a step they should have taken twenty days ago.
He also warned the government against indulging in dirty tricks to implicate anyone in the protest case. On another note, GFP also slammed the decision to increase the fund limit for buying govt vehicles. He said it is criminal indulgence and that those in the government are behaving like social parasites.
“In these difficult times when employees are being laid off due to the absence of money and the government is taking funds from temples, they on the contrary, they decide to increase the funds for cars. It only speaks that they would stoop to any level to do self-welfare” said Vijai while claiming that the govt can go to any extent to drain the state treasury. “MGP’s demand for trimming ministry to save money & avoid wasteful expenditure must be discussed. Does PMO & central BJP endorse this modern day version of Nero fiddling whilst Rome burnt?” said Vijai while waiting to see what the Prime Minister’s Office says regarding this.
