PANJIM: Goa State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday announced reservation for 11 wards of Taleigao Panchayat.
According to the notification issued by the SEC, six of the 11 wards have been reserved for various categories, including women, Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC). However, no ward has been reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC).
Ward numbers 3,4, 6 and 9 have been reserved for women candidates, ward number 5 for Scheduled Tribes (STs) and ward number 1 for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Reservations have been decided by taking into account the population of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the data provided by the Goa State Commission for Backward Classes.
The elections for the Panchayat are to be held on April 28.
