SEC recommends to govt to buy 500 thermal guns

PANJIM: The State Executive Committee (SEC) has recommended to the State government to procure 500 thermal guns to screen people at various places. During a meeting on Monday, Secretary (Health) Nila Mohanan informed that “to meet the shortage of thermal guns for departments and others to be able to check the temperature of visitors demand, the SEC recommended procurement of 500 guns.”

At the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, Mohanan also informed that on Monday, 30 rapid tests were carried out of samples taken from the people who had Influenza Like Illness symptoms. The results of all tests have come out negative.

She also stated that in future, the testing capacity will increase from 30 per day to 80 per day. The SEC noted with caution that Goa does not yet have any community transmission.

The Health Department has received 2,000 RNA extraction kits from Delhi and Mohanan said this stock is sufficient to meet State’s requirement for the time being.

Mohanan also informed that emergency OPD’s are operational even during lockdown period. Additionally, the Health department has issued orders for resumption of antenatal activities and immunization schedule for children. She also stated the six RMDs have started functioning from Monday, beginning from the remotest areas of the State. Six more RMDs would be opened daily, so that all 30 of them would be operational by Friday. On the similar lines, 30-40 Sub-centers would be opened daily , so that all would be open by Friday. The decision on opening the OPDs at PHCs/CHCs and District Hospital would be taken in due course, after detailed discussion.

Excise Commissioner Amit Satija informed the total production of sanitisers has reached over 1.5 lakh liters, of which about 22,000 liters is given to the State Government and defence authorities in Goa at no cost. The House–to-House field survey team members have also been given these sanitisers for their use.
