PANJIM: A separate charge sheet in the double murder case in which Shivaji Nayak was killed and dumped in a pit at Merces in May, is expected to be filed by the Old Goa police next week.
Police sources said contractor Osban Fernandes and co-worker Ramesh Bhagwe will be named in the charge sheet. However, the two unidentified labourers, who assaulted the victim at the behest of the accused, are still untraceable.
Police inspector Krishna Sinhari, when contacted said, “We are still making efforts to trace them. If they are not located, we will show them as absconders but once they are traced, a supplementary charge sheet will be filed.”
The two prime accused have confessed that they killed Shivaji over a petty brawl and later his wife Sujata. They had also told the police they strangulated the children and later dumped them in the Anmod Ghat. Luckily both survived.
The Collem police, which investigated Sujata’s murder and attempted murder of the couple’s minor children, already submitted a more than  400 page charge sheet against the two accused on July 22.
As per the investigation, the first person to be killed ~ Shivaji, allegedly died due to the beating by a group of labourers at the behest of Fernandes and Bhagwe. The duo is presently behind bars for the offence.
Next morning, Fernandes dug a pit and buried the body. Then Ramesh-Osban,  under false pretext of visiting Shivaji, took Sujata and the children to Anmod Ghat on the Goa-Karnataka border in Osban’s car and strangulated Sujata and threw her naked body in the valley and later hurled the children out of the car after strangulating the boy.
Meanwhile, the State Police Complaints Authority is conducting inquiry against five police officials for not taking action in the first murder which resulted in the second killing and attempted murder.
