A second landslide has occurred on the Sada–Mormugao Harbour Road, barely a month after a similar incident claimed the life of a labourer, raising fresh concerns over commuter safety and the stability of the hillside.
The latest landslide has intensified fears among residents and daily commuters, who have been urging authorities to take immediate steps to prevent further mishaps, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.

Following the incident, Mormugao MLA, along with the Goa PWD Minister, conducted a site inspection to assess the situation. During the visit, the PWD Minister assured the public that necessary measures would be implemented to stabilise the slope and prevent future landslides.
Local residents, however, remain concerned, pointing out that spring water continuously flowing from the hillside has been softening the soil, making the area increasingly vulnerable to landslides.
The recurring incidents have prompted renewed calls for both immediate safety interventions and long-term engineering solutions to secure the stretch and protect motorists and pedestrians using the busy harbour road. Authorities are expected to initiate remedial measures in the coming days to address the growing risk posed by the unstable hillside.
