PANJIM: Refuting allegations of the government trying to suppress the people’s voice by imposing Section 144 of the CrPC in South Goa, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the Section is also in place in North Goa.
“Section 144 is in place ever since the COVID pandemic started and has never been lifted. Maybe the North Collector has failed to renew it or the South Collector has issued a delayed order,” he said.
He said there is no link between the agitation and the Section 144. “The cases have come down but we still need to maintain discipline and the rules need to be followed,” he said.
He ruled out a lockdown in the State saying, “There is no need for such a step as of now.”
