PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar along with Information Technology (IT) Minister Rohan Khaunte on Monday launched Wi-Fi services at the secretariat and the ministerial block under which VVIPs, office staff and guest users would get highly secured internet access with a separate bandwidth.
The IT Minister also said that the government has plans to extend the Wi-Fi facility to government departments, schools, colleges and all 40 constituencies in a phased manner wherever GBBN connectivity is provided.
“The launch of the project is in pursuance of the Digital Initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The secured and fast Wi-Fi will help speed up administration work,” Parrikar said.
Khaunte said that the government has also plans to extend the Wi-Fi facility to government departments, schools, colleges in a phased manner wherever GBBN connectivity is provided.
The salient features of Wi-Fi include present internet bandwidth which is 100 Mbps which is scalable up to 10 GBPS and supports voice video and data. Guest users can login using mobile number and can use the internet for one hour.
