PANJIM: Goa Police have made special security arrangement in the State on Saturday, which is Bakri Eid, as it clashes with the Ganesh festival.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Goa Police Vimal Anand Gupta said, “We have mapped sensitive areas based on the past record. Keeping in view the past history this time separate deployment will be made in those pockets.”
He said that almost all IRB platoons have been deployed in the State and also kept as reserve at sensitive locations. He said special security arrangements have made at Usgao, Ponda, Valpoi, Divar, Old Goa, Margao and Curchorem.
“I appeal to the people to celebrate the festivals with the right zeal and spirit and not to encroach others privacy or hurt anybody’s religious sentiments”, Gupta said.
Animals that will come at Usagao, which is dedicated place for kurbani, will be treated as per law, he said.
Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Department Animal husbandry and Veterinary Services will deploy their special representatives to check there is no violation at Goa Meat Complex and outside that, he said.
“There is a dedicated police arrangement we have made, patrolling, robots would be on move and extra deployment of staff along with ATS staff would also be deployed,” he said. He added that the local police stations have been directed to be in touch with the festival organisers.
“Because of our effective policing for so many days this time hardly one incident has taken place of night burglary during Chaturthi,” Gupta added.
