PONDA: As part of security measures during the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Ponda Police on Monday convened a meeting of sarvajanik Ganeshotsav mandals at Ponda Police station.
According to information, there are over 30 Ganeshotsav mandals in Ponda taluka and representatives from 26 such mandals attended the meet.
The meeting was chaired by Ponda DySP and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dinraj Govenkar who urged Ganeshotsav mandals to adhere to safety instructions. Ponda PI C L Patil and Ponda Traffic Cell PI Nilesh Dhaigodkar were also present.
“The meeting was part of the security measure during Ganesh Chathurthi and members of the Ganeshotsav mandals have been informed of safety measures to be undertaken,” informed DySP Govenkar.
A safety chart containing 15 instructions to be followed during the festival has been given to the mandals.
“We have insisted on installation of CCTV cameras at the venues and requested the mandals to deploy private security, especially at night. We have also requested the mandals to deploy volunteers round the clock at the venue,” added Govenkar.
“During Chathurthi, we have asked for additional police force and requested sarvanajik Ganeshotsav mandal to cooperative with police,” he added.
