Security man foils bid to rob aluminium conductors

Unknown miscreants made an abortive attempt to decamp with aluminium conductors from the Power House, Aquem in the wee hours of Friday.
The burglary, however, was foiled by an alert security man, who raised an alarm, forcing the miscreants to make good their escape under the cover of darkness.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 3.30 am to 4 am when the miscreants tried to lift a bundle of conductors estimated to cost around Rs one lakh.
Security man Kamlakar Naik, who was on duty, heard a noise of a vehicle near the yard and upon inquiry found some persons trying to cut the conductors.
 “Initially, I saw three persons near the conductor bundles, but there were others in the vicinity”, he said, adding that he raised an alarm as the miscreants outnumbered him at the spot.
The aluminum conductors were lying abandoned right on the main road near the power house this morning, indicating that the miscreants had nearly managed to lift away the booty, but for the presence of mind of the alert security man.
