MARCEL, SEPT 9
As the state prepares to celebrate Id-Ul-Fitr and Ganesh Chathurthi, Home Minister Ravi Naik has said security measures are in place and are being monitored by Goa police.
“Security measures have been intensified for these celebrations and the police is well prepared for the festivals. While there is no need to worry, we, however, urge people to co-operate with the police,” said Naik.
“We also request residents who visits their ancestral homes during Ganesh Chathurthi to avoid keeping valuables in their houses, as burglars target empty houses during the festival,” the home minister said.
Naik, however, added that police has intensified night patrol in various parts of the State. Claiming that antisocial elements try to disturb peace, Naik advised people not to fall prey to such tactics.
“In the name of religion or caste, there are many antisocial elements trying to disrupt peace. However, people should not fall prey to such tactics. They should inform police if they notice any unclaimed luggage or suspicious movement of unknown persons,” he said.
