PANJIM: Goa police on Monday conducted a massive security rehearsal in the capital and Old Goa ahead of the 44th International Film Festival of India, slated to begin from Wednesday and St Francis Xavier feast which will be celebrated next month.
The department has formed special security teams to thwart potential risks at the venues. With Goa hosting the two events without central security forces for first time since the festival was shifted to Goa in 2004, the elite force has enlarged its strength on the field. In addition to this, the Indian Reserve Battalion and Goa Reserve Police have also been roped-in.
Moreover, extra CCTV cameras have been installed which would be monitored at the exclusive control room set up at the Old GMC complex.
“We have put in place several other security measures but this cannot be disclosed,” said a senior police officer.
