SANGUEM, JULY 25
With monsoon in full swing, the Selaulim Dam in Sanguem began to overflow since Saturday, thereby once again giving the visitors to the dam the breathtaking view of the monsoon water overflowing the spillway.
While last year, the overflow had commenced on July 15, this year the overflow is delayed by nearly 10 days despite there being heavy monsoon showers in the State since the last many days.
Ironically, despite Sunday being the first day of the water overflowing the spillway, a large number of visitors were seen thronging to the dam site since morning.
Incidentally, what surprises the visitors is the continuation of Goa Forest Development Corporation charging the visitors the entry fee of Rs 10 and Rs 5 for adult and children below 12 years respectively.
In the last budget Assembly session, it was addressed that the entry fee at the Selaulim Dam would be scrapped, but the GFDC continues collection of entry fee unabated.
