Selaulim dam overflows after heavy rains

SANGUEM: With heavy rains lashing the Sanguem taluka for the past three days, the

Selaulim Dam began to overflow from its unique duck bill spillway from 8.12 am yesterday.

“The overflow commenced at 8.12 am when the water at the Selaulim Dam reached the height of 42.15 metres,” said an official.

The dam however took extra 12 days to overflow as against the record of the past years. While earlier, the water normally used to overflow in the first week or by 8 July, this year it took twelve days extra for the water to over flow the spillway.

The delay in the overflow is reportedly attributed due to the delayed arrival of monsoons in the State.
