SANGUEM: The Selaulim Dam at Sanguem which offers enchanting beauty to the visitors during monsoon is overflowing since last two days.
It is during the monsoon the Selaulim Dam attracts maximum visitors who come to witness the beauty of the water overflowing the dam spill way at a height of 42 metres. Last year the water flow had commenced on July 12. In 2017, the water flow had commenced on July 24.
Incidentally, though the Selaulim dam would normally overflow in the third week of July, the water in the reservoir got filled at a much earlier date on account of heavy rains in the taluka past one week.
In addition to the beauty of the overflowing waters, the Selaulim dam also has a botanical garden towards the lower side which is run and maintained by the Goa Forest Development Corporation. While no entry fee is charged to see the Selaulim Dam, the GFDC charges a fee of Rs 20 per adult and Rs 5 per child below 12 years on account of the botanical garden in the vicinity.
Visitors are also not allowed to enter the Selaulim Dam unless accompanied by photo identity card which needs to be produced to the security guards at the entry gate.
