PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has committed himself to filling up the vacancies of chief information commissioner (CIC) and state information commissioner (SIC) by June. Speaking to the media after a cabinet meeting on Friday, he said the selection committee will meet once Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza returns next week.
“It was vacation time. I myself was not in Goa for five days. Deputy CM too isn’t here for a couple of days. Once he comes, we will sit and advertise for the post,” he said responding to a media query about the long delay in appointing candidates for the three posts.
Parsekar assured that the selection procedure will conclude next month, when the committee will appoint eligible candidates to the crucial posts.
The opposition parties have been taking on the government over the delay in these appointments, which have resulted in several 100 cases pending.
While the two SIC posts are lying idle for nearly two years, the CIC post too hasn’t been filled up after Leena Mehandale retired in January this year.
