MARGAO: In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shiv Sena, Goa has sought his intervention to stop Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar from taking a step of allowing Karnataka to divert the waters of Mhadei River.
In the letter, party’s Goa spokesman Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik has termed Parrikar’s move on Christmas eve as that of being “Bad Santa Claus” who is snatching future of our children, which is River Mhadei.
“Sena would like to express to you with utter dismay the behaviour of our Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who has behaved like a “bad Santa Claus,” the letter reads.
Naik said that this is the festival to give joy to the people. Birth of Lord Jesus Christ symbolises hope, but Parrikar’s action of agreeing to give Mhadei River water to Karnataka has resulted in the State losing its hope for better future.
“Santa Claus distributes gifts to bring smiles on faces of children but our Parrikar who is a “bad Santa Claus” has instead snatched the future of our children by agreeing to divert the water of River Mhadei,” the letter further reads.
Naik said, “The River is a gift for us from nature and our forefathers have worshipped and preserved it. It is our duty to pass it on to our future generation, and not to use it for our petty political gains.”
“The Bad Santa Claus on the eve of Christmas has acted in a way that would leave pain for our future generations of Goa,” the letter states.
