PANJIM: Shiv Sena in Goa on Sunday expressed its willingness to have pre-poll alliance with regional parties like Goa Forward during forthcoming 2017 State Assembly election, while deciding to keep arm’s distance from BJP and Congress.
“Our priority is to have pre-poll alliance with parties like Goa Forward whose mentor MLAs are taking up genuine issues of the people,” Shiv Sena president Sudip Tamhankar told media persons.
He said Shiv Sena will not have any alliance with BJP or Congress in the elections, due next year, as both the parties were responsible for ruining the State progress.
“BJP rode to the victory in 2012 polls on various promises which they have failed to fulfil. They cheated on the issue of shifting of Casinos. They are no different from the Congress party which failed to keep up the promises and on the other hand went on looting people,” Tamhankar said.
Shiv Sena president accused State government of being in contempt with the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which had asked the Goa Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to monitor the water quality of Mandovi River due to presence of off-shore casino vessels after every four months.
“The then chief minister Manohar Parrikar responding to a question tabled on the Floor of the House by Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco had stated that the State would adhere to NGT guidelines of checking the water quality after every four months. But they have failed to fulfil this assurance,” he said.
Tamhankar also warned that the party will have to move NGT with the contempt petition, if GSPCB continues to ignore the order.
