MARGAO: In a bid to revive the South Goa District Planning Committee (DPC), the South Goa Zilla Panchayat on Friday urged members to impress upon the panchayat bodies to send their village development plans to the DPC for consolidation.
The meeting also decided to hold a meeting of the South DPC in October, wherein the plans received would be consolidated and forwarded to the government for approval.
The issue figured at the Standing Committee meeting of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat wherein Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues appealed to the members to follow up with the panchayat secretaries to ensure that the panchayats send their plans on time. “We have already sent the DPC letters to the secretaries of the village panchayats. At today’s meeting, we urged the ZP members to do the follow up with the panchayat secretaries so that they send the village plans to the DPC,” informed Nelly.
She said the meeting also decided to launch the website of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat, adding that the members have been told to send details of projects in their respective constituencies.
