VALPOI: With their complaints to the concerned authorities to repair the main potholed road in Kopardem falling on deaf ears, the village senior citizens on Saturday led the way by taking up the task of filling up the same.
For the last two years, the main road in Kopardem is in a very bad condition as it has developed several potholes. The villagers have on several occasions complained to the panch and the PWD, Valpoi, but they have failed to initiate any action.
“Our village main road is in very bad condition and the potholes were causing inconvenience to school children especially while walking on the road. Whenever a vehicle passed over the potholes, the dirty water would splash on their uniform. Besides this, several riders have fallen off their bikes and sustained injuries while negotiating the potholes. So we all senior citizens from the village have filled up the all potholes to ensure the safety of all,” said a senior citizen.
“While commuting along the road riders also complained of severe backache. We had already informed our panch and the PWD, Valpoi to repair our village road. Despite the several reminders, they have not taken any action. So we all senior citizens have filled up the potholes,” said village elder.
