PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Kuncaliencar on Tuesday asserted that senior ministers in the State government are capable of handling the State administration efficiently under Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s monitoring from USA.The BJP also charged the Congress with creating unnecessary panic among the people by stating that the Zuari Bridge is in danger and has developed cracks.
Addressing the media, Kuncaliencar said, “The senior ministers are capable of handling State administration. Chief Minister has been monitoring from USA. Our ministers VijaiSardesai, Rohan Khaunte and RamkrishnaDhavalikar have been efficiently handing the State administration.”He added, “Today all over the State works worth Rs 720 crore are going on. The Congress demanding President’s Rule implies that the party has accepted defeat and it has accepted that it cannot form an alternative government.”
He further said that the role of the opposition is to try and form the government but it looks like they have already accepted defeat. “I do not know whether all their 16 MLAs are united,” he said.
Speaking on the Zuari bridge, Kuncaliencar said, “Congress has been trying to create panic that Zuari bridge has developed cracks. People today very well understand these things. The PWD Minister has himself cleared this issue. The Congress is trying to get attention by doing such things.”Kuncaliencar also said that during the Congress tenure, the then government had wasted Rs 10 crore on consultation for the Dona Paula to Vasco sea-link project while stating that they did not have any intention of building the same.
“Zuari bridge should have been done long ago but Congress did not have any interest. Congress should first clarify to the people of Goa as to why they did not go ahead with the Zuari bridge project instead of creating panic among people. During the UPA government, Goa did not receive any funds and now under NDA, we have got Rs 10,000 crore,” he added.
Kuncaliencar also mocked the 48-hour deadline given by Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor VithalChopdekar and other councillors to repair the potholed roads in the capital stating that the deadline is over and still no one has sat on hunger strike.
