PANJIM: Reacting to the statement of All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and Goa desk in-charge Digvijay Singh over the grand alliance in the coming assembly polls, independent MLA and former Congressman Vijai Sardesai said that Singh should know the sentiments of the people of Goa for alliance and the ‘Karkungiri’ (clerical work) doesn’t work in Goa.
“Digvijay Singh should know the Goenkars, his politics doesn’t work here in Goa like ‘Kurkurngiri’. Giving application and sending proposal doesn’t work here,” Sardesai reacted to the statement of Singh made on Saturday.
Speaking to media on Saturday, Singh had said that the Pradesh Executive Committee will discuss and decide on the grand alliance, if proposal comes, and can recommend to the AICC for consideration.
“The Congress party has made its stand clear. As of now, we are preparing to field candidates in all 40 seats. If there is a proposal, at any point of time, then the Pradesh executive committee will discuss and decide and propose to AICC if any alliance to be considered or not,” Singh had said.
Sardesai said that people’s sentiments should be respected not the correspondence which Singh is talking about.
“Flavor of the season is people’s sentiments which is in favour grand alliance to defeat ruling BJP government in Goa. Grand alliance in Goa is my idea to save the Goa and its culture and identity,” he added.
