Taking into consideration garbage that would be generated from schools coming up in the integrated school complex at Cujira in Bambolim for which work has begun, separate garbage and sewerage treatment plants have been mooted.
Education Minister Babush Monserrate said the plants would be built by both Alcon Constructions and Dempo Group that are creating infrastructure, including road network, for the complex at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
Mushtifund High School, Hedgewar High School, Red Rosary High School and Dhempe College are some of the schools to be shifted in the first phase. Land 1.13 lakh square metres has already been acquired by the State Government and marked for the purpose.
Sources said the Directorate of Education was in the process of acquiring more land for the complex because it had been decided to increase land allotment for each school to 10,000 square metres from the earlier 3,000 square metres.
They said efforts were on to acquire the land owned by Goa Medical College and Hospital.
The school complex would see two large playgrounds, a gymnasium, a common hall, a hi-tech laboratory, parking facility and other arrangements once it was complete.
The managing committees of the school will have chip in money for the construction of the school buildings for which loans would be provided.
