However, an unperturbed Lobo stated that, as the owner, he could create new plans considering the modifications and financial status. He also wished Sequeira “all the best” in his new role as Deputy Sarpanch.
Speaking at the Panchayat premises soon after the elections, Sequeira said, “In my capacity as the new Deputy Sarpanch, I would like to highlight the forgery by the BJP MLA Michael Lobo, who has submitted two plans of his resort. How can an elected representative indulge in such illegalities? There is more to follow in the days come. Wait and watch.”
He continued, “Ex-Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had assured to take up five of our pet developmental projects: the garbage treatment plant, market-cum-bus stand, Arpora bridge, the by-pass to Baga, and the power sub-station, but the Calangute MLA seems to take credit for all our collective developmental projects. We are thankful to the government for sanctioning the power sub-station for Calangute and will be collaborating with the Comunidade for a suitable plot.”
When contacted, Lobo said, “I congratulate Sequeira on his election and urge him to carry out good development in the interest of Calangute. As far as his claim on forgery goes, as an owner I have every right to submit modified plans as and when it is deemed fit.”
Earlier, Sequeira was elected unopposed as the new Deputy Sarpanch of Calangute after Vinayak (Subhash) Salgaonkar recently resigned to make way for Sequeira.
