MARGAO: The Seraulim gram sabha on Sunday witnessed heated discussions over a housing project in the village with members blaming the secretary for the lapse.
A resolution was also moved by a gram sabha member Joaquim Dias demanding legal action against the panchayat secretary for the failure to return the incomplete file submitted by the builder for a construction license.
Gram sabha member Santornino Rodrigues moved a resolution that no construction licence should be issued to any more projects in Seraulim and that all completed and incomplete projects be not issued occupancy certificate until infrastructure in the village is improved.
He further pointed out that the common man faced troubles in obtaining construction licences and demanded to know how the a 15 meter road shown by a builder in ward VI was found to be just three meters wide during inspection.
Sarpanch Lieslie Dourado informed that the Silver Jubilee Goa grant of Rs 10 lakh allotted to the panchayat by state is proposed to be used to construct a joggers park. He informed that the talathi has been ordered by the district collector to conduct a re-survey of all the houses in the 20-point programme. He also said that the panchayat has informed all the 20 hotels in the village to stop supply of garbage to the garbage collector.
