Margao: After receiving various letters and requests from the people of the village the Sarpanch of Seraulim Panchayat Domingos Fernandes has written to the Centre as well as the State Government and NRI Affairs to pursue the matter of stranded seafarers, OCI holders and other Indians abroad on top priority.
The panchayat said that repatriation of seafarers and Goans who are other nationals including OCI’s of Goa State is arranged which will end the unwarranted mental torture for them as well as their families.
The Sarpanch in his letter said that they understand that the Government has initiated the appropriate measures taken to bring back our stranded nationals which the panchayat appreciates. “
As a representative of our village I would say that a seafarer being alone and away from home in the current lockdown situation goes through enormous amount of stress and mental torture. This issue of repatriation needs to be addressed by your government on top priority in consultation with the Ministry of External Affairs before the condition onboard deteriorates further” said Domingos.
