PANJIM: Crime branch’s special investigation team has invoked serious criminal charges in addition to the three existing IPC sections against him. The First Information Report has slapped sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (C) and 376 (2) (f) of IPC against him.
Originally, Tejpal was booked under sections 354-A (sexual harassment, physical contact, advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, or any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature), 376 (rape) and 376 (2) (k) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position) of IPC.
Crime Branch sources said that additional sections were invoked after certain revelations by victim and witnesses in their respective statements, CCTV footage and other circumstantial evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation.
