MARGAO: Locals visiting the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) building to pay their house tax have been complaining about the long queues they are forced to stand in the passageway located outside the building.
However, with MMC facing constant server issues, people who thought this would be a quick visit are forced to wait a long period of time. MMC counters are not accepting payments if it is not registered in their system and they also need the server to confirm how much house tax the person has to pay as well.
As the public passageway is not fully covered they suffered heavy showers while standing in the queue.
Locals have called on the MMC to streamline the system and see that they are able to pay their house tax soon. In some cases, they are asked to come on another day. People complain that it was difficult for them to take time off to come to the MMC again.
They have also asked for better arrangements keeping monsoon in mind as most of them had to stand wet in rains queuing for the tax payment.
