BICHOLIM: Around 50 mining workers of Vedanta (Sesa) met the Speaker and Bicholim MLA, Rajesh Patnekar, and put before him their grievances.
The workers told the Speaker that it has been more than 15 months that the mining has been stopped, but no solution has been found to restart the same.
“Many of the workers had taken loan and the interest is rising. They have mortgaged all their belongings, but still they are unable to repay the loan,” the workers said.
They urged the Speaker to take the matter seriously and come up with a solution. The Speaker assured the workers that the government is very serious about the issue and that the government would soon come out with a solution to this problem.
