VASCO: Chicalim Youth Farmers Club (CYFC) has requested the Director of Agriculture to expedite the work of bringing a Zonal Agricultural Office in Mormugao taluka.
Taking cognizance of the report highlighted by Herald multiple times about the urgent need of Zonal Agriculture Office (ZAO)in Mormugao taluka, the CYFC’s secretary has written to the Agriculture director how they will benefit if they have an office in the taluka.
In that letter, the CYFC secretary Neha Gaude says that “Chicalim Youth Farmers Club (CYFC), along with the farmers’ community in Chicalim and NGO GOACAN, had petitioned you (director) to initiate the setting up of a Zonal Agricultural Office in Mormugao Taluka.”
The Agriculture Department had then put up a proposal and the government had accepted it, but till date nothing has materialised.
“Neither have we or our village Panchayat, Chicalim been notified regarding the progress in this matter. This year, the CYFC has taken on the challenge of reviving nearly 20,000 sq. mts of fallow fields at Chicalim village of Mormugao taluka,” the CYFC secretary wrote.
The CFYC secretary said that ‘the task is more difficult as we are facing problems in regard to the drainage system and travelling to Margao for any problems faced.’
