VASCO: A senior member of the Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA) Chandrakant Gawas has urged the warring barge owners to hold their guns and start working for the betterment of the association. He also said that the manner in which clinging on to the seat of top positions shows selfish interests which “is bad for the association.”
Gawas, who has knowledge of the affairs of GBOA for the last 30 years, has requested the association members to solve the matter amicably and to use their energy to their already troubled barge owners. He was commenting on the newly cropped up petition for the election directives to the GBOA.
“It is an association for the betterment of the barge business and getting personal interests and selfish motives for control over top posts makes wonder whether there is a division in the association,” Gawas said.
“The founder members of the association had clearly put it down in the preamble of the association that they will be working for the betterment of the barge owners’ community. We have debts, have financial troubles, bank notices are being received. We need to put our energy in getting the sinking business up and keep aside selfish interests,” Gawas said.
Gawas has urged the members of the association to amicably settle the matter and unite to solve issues of the barge businessmen.
