MAPUSA: A special council meeting was held on Tuesday in the conference hall of Municipal office. The Chairperson of MMC, Ryan Braganza read the first matter for the day and then revealed that the councilors have agreed to provide the consent terms to Gurudas Natekar whose hoardings were removed from the Mapusa market near KTC bus stand.
“Since the council has been accepting the tax fees for the hoarding from inception till 2019, he has furnished a copy of the draft of the consent terms for verifying with the council for settlement. He has accepted the said consent terms provided to us and the hearing in the matter is on September 28,”said Ryan.
In reply to this the councilor, Sandeep Falari said the party is offering to remove and give in writing that they will not put more hoardings in that area. Coming to the second business for the day, the councilors have decided to increase the validity of construction license from one year to three years for projects it will be 1.5 percent and for single dwelling it will be 1.25 percent.
“The people have been requesting and we have received a circular also that it is not possible to build a house in one year. This was too little time to build and hence it was decided to increase the lease period license for constructions,” said Ryan.
While Councilor Sandeep pointed out that if the license validity term is increased to three years then there will be no need for renewal of license. The council had earlier resolved to collect arrears regarding revised plinth area and rate approved by Public Works Department to be applied prior to 2016. After discussion the council resolved to implement the new revised plinth area and rate approved by the PWD. “When a new file comes for approval we take it up for licensing. There was a resolution regarding this that was taken up before where there was a technical mistaken and arreas in those cases has been taken care of,” told Ryan.
All the councilors remained present at the meeting.
