Several tourists rescued from drowning during Christmas weekend

CALANGUTE: A number of tourists were saved from drowning by lifeguards during the Christmas weekend. In one incident at Sinquerim, a group of four tourists from Nashik were rescued after lifeguards saw them struggling in the water.

A 65-year-old foreign tourist who was having breathing problems in a shack at Candolim was also taken to the Primary Health Centre by lifeguards.

Some missing children were also traced at Baga. The youngest was a three-year-old and the oldest was eight years old. On receiving information from the parents about their missing children, lifesavers quickly reunited the children with their parents after a search operation was conducted with the help of a jeep and PA system.
