Sewerage chamber puts Nagzar residents at risk

PONDA: Nagzar locals are fed up with a huge sewage chamber on the road leading to Nagzar Curti. The locals are demanding the chamber be filled and the road restored to its normal state at the earliest.
Locals Premanand Naik and Raguveer Naik said due to sewage work the main road in their locality is closed and blocked for vehicles and also leaves no space for residents. The chamber is 35 metres long, six-metre in width and 10-metre deep.
Last year also the sewerage department had left this chamber open for six months and closed it only when two youth fell in the ditch with their bike. They were pulled out to safety by the locals.
“We have complained to the authorities, including the panchayat, but nobody is looking into our grievance. This chamber is probably the longest anywhere on Goa roads. Currently we are facing dust pollution and fear health hazards. The four shops located at roadside have no customers for the last one and half months due to the road closure. The authorities should complete the work at the earliest and rid out of the problem and hardships we are facing at Nagzar Curti,” said the Naiks.
