CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo stated that the road repair works in Calangute had been delayed by the “much-required” sewerage project. He assured to complete the same by January 2016 and urged the locals to cooperate with him.
“The sewerage works, which had been sanctioned by the previous government, were not taken up even though the groundwater was getting polluted. Traffic congestion was worsening the situation, so the new government sanctioned road repair works of Rs 124 crore. The sewerage work has not been completed, leading to a delay in repairing the roads. Some leaders have started the blame game to defame me. I took up the works in the interest of the people of Calangute,” said Lobo.
He continued, “We have started the repairs where the pipelines have already been laid. We have repaired the road from Calangute market to St Anthony’s Chapel, while the St Alex Church road will be taken up. The sewerage works are not yet complete, so the repairs cannot be taken up immediately. I seek the support and cooperation of everyone.
and assure to complete the Calangute-Baga road by November and all the repairs works by January.”
