Sexual harassment complaint filed against school headmaster

canacona: South Goa Police are looking into a complaint filed by a lady teacher of a government high school of alleged sexual harassment and mental torture by the headmaster of the same school. 
Sources stated that the victim accompanied by her husband had visited a South Goa police station and filed the complaint. 
She has accused the headmaster of alleged mental torture in the school premises and also while traveling in a bus from her residence to the school.  After hearing the victim’s grievances, preliminary interrogation of the headmaster was also conducted at the police station on Wednesday.
Police sources added that following the Vishaka report procedural guidelines for cases of sexual harassment, the victim has been directed to make a complaint to the Internal Complaints Committee of the school, which will investigate on its own and if the complain is found positive, the committee will submit its report to the police for further investigation.
Upon enquiry, it was revealed that such a committee at the school exists, but it has become defunct as it had not been renewed as required by law. 
Sources added that the alleged incident of sexual harassment took place in 2018, when both the accused and the victim were occupying adjacent seats in a passenger bus, which was proceeding to the school. 
The school’s PTA chairperson added that the complainant has been posted at the school since the last 10 years and that her plea to be transferred.

“The headmaster of our school has a good moral character and his hard work and dedication has brought excellent results to the school. Let the authorities investigate find out the truth, added the chairperson.
