SGDH gears up to tackle Omicron cases if detected in South Goa

MARGAO: As a precautionary measure in wake of Omicron variant, the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao is also gearing up to tackle the cases if any detected in the district, as the district hospital administration has initiated the process in these regards since the last few days. 

According to Dr Minakshi Panandikar, who is holding charge of South District Hospital, in the absence of Medical Superintendent Dr Deepa Corria Afonso, administration has initiated the process of preparation in the hospital.

“Yes, we are in the process of preparing to tackle the Omicron cases if reported in the South District, but have not yet finalised the plan,” she stated. 

The first case of Omicron has been detected in Goa on Monday, wherein an 8-year-old boy who travelled from United Kingdom to Goa on December 17, tested positive. 

The State Health Department has already started the process of implementing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down by the Government of India.
