MARGAO: Sub-divisional Magistrate Margao Sangeeta Naik on Wednesday set a time frame of 10 weeks to abate the nuisance and health hazard at the SGPDA wholesale fish market.
While passing an injunction order under section 142 of the Cr PC, thus making mandatory for the South Goa Planning and Development Authority and the Margao Municipal Council to initiate immediate measures to stop the nuisance at the wholesale fish market, the SDM has directed that the measures will have to be implemented pending hearing of the matter.
The SDM has passed the order in connection with the complaint filed by Madel resident Savio Dias who has called for an early end to the nuisance prevailing at the wholesale fish market.
The complainant said the SGPDA at its last hearing had given an undertaking to the SDM that the Authority will erect gates at the wholesale fish market to curb all illegal activities such as sale of retail fish, hawking and cleaning of fish.
SGPDA has also submitted that it intends to connect the non-functioning effluent treatment plant to the main PWD sewerage line, saying that the above two works should take care of the major grievances in the complaint.
