SGPDA Market Chicken Traders Seek Immediate Waste Clearance, Allege Health and Business Impact

Chicken traders operating in the SGPDA market marched to the Margao Municipality to protest the alleged delay in clearing chicken waste from the market premises. The waste, left unattended for nearly three days, has become a nuisance, emitting a strong and unpleasant odor, impacting both the traders’ businesses and public health.

The Chief Officer of the municipality had reportedly assured the traders that the waste would be cleared by the evening of the same day.

Meanwhile, Gaurish Sankvalkar, the Chief Officer of the MMC, mentioned that the Goa Solid Waste Management (GSWM) had appointed an agency for collecting slaughter waste. However, issues had arisen between two contractors selected by GSWM. Sankvalkar had already brought this matter to GSWM’s attention and encouraged both contractors to engage with GSWM authorities to resolve the problems, ensuring the seamless collection of waste.
