SGPDA not to reduce fees of fish-laden vehicles

MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) on Wednesday decided not to reduce the fees of fish-laden vehicles coming to the Wholesale Fish Market.

The authority has also received the technical sanction for the tender for the levy collection and maintenance of its markets.

SGPDA chairman Wilfred D’Sa said they will continue with the present fees which were hiked some months ago. The authority also discussed the proposal of one Malcolm Pereira for the levy collection contract.

It may be recalled that the SGPDA was directed by the High Court to decide on the matter with regards to the fee hike within 2 months.  The Wholesale Fish Traders’ Association had filed a petition in the High Court opposing the same.
