MARGAO: The South Goa Planning Development Authority (SGPDA) on Monday sought time to file reply to the suit filed by the Levy Collection Contractor challenging his removal. The court has granted stay in the matter and the contract stands continued till October 21.
It may be recalled that on October 1, the Court of Civil Judge Junior Division had asked to maintain the status quo in the levy collection work of the South Goa Planning Development Authority markets until the disposal of the application for injunction filed by contractor Milagres Fernandes.
The court had asked the South Goa Planning Development Authority to file its reply in the matter before October 5.
Milagres had filed an application in the District Court asking for injunctions and specific relief following his removal as the SGPDA Levy Collection Contractor.
He contended that the SGPDA has given him the work on the condition that he collects the levy charges and maintains the market until the tender is floated. He will continue collecting the monies from the markets.
