MARGAO: The South Goa Planing & Development Authority has decided to start the process of the Margao and Ponda ODP afresh.
This decision was resolved in the first meeting of the Authority on Monday where the new Chairman of the SGPDA and Goa Forward Party President Renuka Da’Silva took official charge. The SGPDA meeting of Monday has resolved to start the work on ODP of Margao and Ponda afresh. A complete audit of the SGPDA market with a time- bound plan has also been resolved by the authority. The authority has also discussed and resolved to preserve heritage and architecture of the Old Market area of Margao with a conservation committee.
While breifing the media after the meeting, the Chairman Renuka said, “We have observed that the ODP was done without consulting the people’s representative and the local Governments. Hence, we have resolved to redo the process entirely,” said Chairman.
The Margao MLA Digamber Kamat said “There was a unanimity on the stalled ODPs as even the HC has observed that the process was conducted improperly. We have decided to re-start the process,” said Digamber.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the SGPDA also said that a complete audit of the market would be conducted. “Wholesale fish market plan will be prepared by the SGPDA and the TCP Minister has said that the market will be done up by the GSIDC without transferring the project to anyone,” Digamber Kamat said.
Meanwhile, abstaining from the meeting, the TCP Minister said, “I have come here to support the development and other initiatives taken by the SGPDA.”
The Chairperson of the MMC Babita Angle also informed that the Senior Town Planner James Mathew has been asked to prepare a comprehensive plan on how to go about it.
