The incident is believed to have occurred when the grass fire spread to the area before engulfing the structure. What came in the way of the firefighting operations was that there was no proper access road leading to the structure, destroying the property. Margao Fire Officer Gill de Souza informed that the firefighting operations were hampered for want of an access road to the beach. “The Margao fire brigade was informed about the incident by our Verna counterparts that a shack has been engulfed in a fire. We reached Majorda beach, but our fire tender could not reach the spot for want of an access”, Gill said.
