He inquired with the Municipal librarian how Konkani books were not found everywhere in the library. While coming out of the library he remarked to MMC Chairperson Arthur D’Silva that it was a shame the library wasn’t maintaining adequate number of Konkani books.
“If you people don’t promote Konkani books and literature, who will?” he asked, while trying to put across the point that the local bodies should support Konkani literature.
The MMC Chairperson said that he would ensure that the civic body would procure adequate number of books in Konkani for the benefit of the readers and general citizens.
Sources in the know said the Municipal library has procured books at a cost of Rs five lakh and it’s not known how many books in Konkani found favour with the Municipal administration.
