Shantadurga Temple reopens only for mahajans, local devotees

PONDA: The Shantadurga Temple at Kavlem, which was closed for public since November 27 last year due to the detection of some COVID cases in area, on Saturday reopened its doors only for mahajans and local devotees. 

However, tourists are not allowed to enter the temple.

A notice put up in temple premises states that based on confirmation that the affected persons have now recovered, the managing committee has decided to reopen the temple from January 2. The temple will remain open from 8 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The entry will be strictly restricted to mahajans and local devotees. No tourist will be allowed and the Tourism Department has been intimated. Visiting mahajans residing outside Goa must carry a valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar Card, driving licence, etc.  Social distancing and other COVID-19 norms such as hand sanitisation need to be followed while visiting the temple.
